Strassen

The municipality of Strassen took part in the pilot project “Pakt vum Zesummeliewen” from the 17th May 2021 until the 26th of march 2024. 

A steering committee of 10 members, coming from the city council and the consultative commission on integration, has been set up to oversee the various stages of the “Pakt vum Zesummeliewen” project.

Although the municipality of Strassen already had some good practices in terms of intercultural coexistence before the signing of the PvZ (Kannergemengerootand HOPLR), a review of the situation revealed additional areas of interest.

At the prioritisation workshop on 8 July 2021, the local council and the steering committee agreed on the importance of meeting places. A target audience was quickly identified, namely senior citizens. CEFIS presented the current situation later in the year.

A citizens' workshop in the strict sense of the term did not take place. The focus was on the two priorities identified at the prioritisation workshop and on project implementation.

However, for the "Senior" theme, a seniors' workshop was organised. Here, participants could suggest improvements and concrete projects in all areas of life. These ideas were included in a Senior Plan.

• Ukrainian house 

At a time when many Ukrainians were seeking protection from the war in their homeland, the local authority created the "Ukrainian House", where not only Ukrainians but all other citizens of the local authority could stay.

• Gourmet walk 

A gourmet walk has also been created as a result of the dynamics that occurred during the Pakt vum Zesummeliewen process. 

• Electoral roll registration campaign 

The Commune has produced a video (Je Peux Voter | Rencontrer Assetou | Commune De Strassen - YouTube) with testimonials in various languages to explain to non-Luxembourg residents why it is important to vote. 

• Senior Action Plan 

As a result of close collaboration between the Senior Citizens Club and the Intercultural Living Councillors, a Senior Citizens Plan has been drafted and finalised. The plan has been presented to the local council and the first actions will be implemented in the future.

An evaluation of the first loop was carried out. Initially, the impact of the gourmet walk and the Ukrainian house were analysed and discussed with the local authorities. 

A general evaluation will be carried out during the summer of 2023 in close collaboration with the local integration officer. 

The municipality of Strassen signed the « Gemengepakt fir interkulturellt Zesummeliewen » on the 27/03/2024.
