Schifflange

The municipality of Schifflange took part in the pilot project “Pakt vum Zesummeliewen” from the 7th of march 2022 until the 18th of june 2024. 

A steering committee coming from the city council and the consultative commission on integration, has been set up to oversee the various stages of the “Pakt vum Zesummeliewen” project.

While the commune of Schifflange already had some good practices in terms of intercultural living together before the signing of the Pact vum Zesummeliwen (FeteFete-des-culturesCavalcade (RTL photos), ecrivain public), a review of the situation highlighted additional areas of interest.

CEFIS carried out a survey in 2019 for the commune of Schifflange. This survey provided the initial point for the Pact vum Zesummeliwen. 

There was no citizens' workshop, as the municipality chose to continue working on the basis of its Communal Integration Plan (PCI) for the 2017-2023 legislation. 

In the municipality of Schifflange, the Pact vum Zesummeliwen is a continuation of the PCI, the complete document for which was presented to and voted on by the municipal council in 2019. 

Here are some of the measures that have been put in place as part of the PCI/Pact vum Zesummeliwen:

• Language courses, 
• Café polyglotte ,
• Briquettes workshops in collaboration with the CLAE,
• Personalised letters to register non-Luxembourgish residents on electoral rolls,
• Training of multipliers to encourage non-Luxembourgish residents to register to vote,
• National Registration Day on 18 March 2023 with a special offer for first-time voters 
• Welcome signs in 30 languages 

The municipality of Schifflange signed the « Gemengepakt fir interkulturellt Zesummeliewen »  on the 19/06/2024. 

A steering committee of 13 members coming from the council of eldermen, the town council, the commission for intercultural living together and two associations has been set up to oversee the various stages of the « Gemengepakt fir interkulturellt Zesummeliewen »  project.
