Roeser

The municipality signed the Pakt vum Zesummeliewen on 6 May 2021. A steering committee was set up shortly afterwards.

While the municipality of Roeser already had a number of good practices in terms of intercultural living together before signing the Pakt vum Zesummeliewen (Babysitter Service + Lesson Service, Participatory Budget), an inventory of the situation highlighted additional areas of interest.

At a meeting held on 20 June 2022 to present the results of this review, the steering committee decided to prioritise the theme of "political participation". The aim was to increase the registration rate of non-Luxembourgish residents on electoral rolls for local elections and to strengthen citizen participation at local level.

The municipality of Roeser sent personal invitations to randomly selected residents, inviting them to take part in a citizens' workshop on 8 November 2022 on the subject of "political participation". These people were calculated on the basis of the different nationalities living in the municipality. This procedure was carried out anonymously.

The result was that approximately 40 citizens turned up to discuss four themes: 

1. Active voting rights, 

2. Passive voting rights, 

3. Citizen participation,

4. Channels and means of communication and information. 

Four tables in three different languages (English, French and Luxembourgish) came up with a number of proposals, which were presented to the steering committee. 

The municipality of Roeser signed the « Gemengepakt fir interkulturellt Zesummeliewen »  on the 27/03/2024. 

A steering committee of 7 members coming from the council of eldermen, the town council, the commission for intercultural living together and two associations has been set up to oversee the various stages of the « Gemengepakt fir interkulturellt Zesummeliewen »  project.

While the municipality of Roeser already carries out many actions to promote intercultural living together, a review of the situation highlighted other areas of additional interest.

This review is based on an awareness-raising letter sent out to the residents of Roeser and an in-depth analysis carried out by our contracted partner CEFIS. These practices are used to give an indicative picture of living together in Roeser .

In Roeser, 380 people took part in the survey, and the results were presented to the steering committee on the 18/09/2024.
