Kopstal

The municipality signed the “Pakt vum Zesummeliewen” on the 3rd June 2021. Initially, it was decided that the members of the municipal advisory committee on integration (CCCI) would form the steering committee. 

While the municipality of Kopstal already had a number of good practices in terms of intercultural living together (Hip-Hop-Campus, Kobri-Maart), an inventory of the situation highlighted additional areas of interest.

During the presentation of the results and the statistics of the awareness letter on 18 October 2022, the steering committee decided to prioritise the theme of "Political participation". The awarness that very few non-Luxembourgish residents were registered to vote prompted the steering committee to tackle this priority. The main objective was to encourage non-Luxembourgish residents to register to vote and to strengthen their interest in local politics in general.

The municipality of Kopstal benefited of the national registration day on the 18th March 2023 to organise a citizens' workshop. Over a cup of coffee, the councillors for intercultural living together were able to gather the opinions of non-Luxembourgish residents who had turned up to register to vote.

• Personalised letter to non-Luxembourgish residents 

The municipality of Kopstal has sent non-Luxembourgish residents who have not yet registered to vote a personalised letter inviting them to take part in the national registration day for the local elections on 11 June 2023, or to register via Myguichet.lu.

• National Registration Day (18.03.2023):

During National Registration Day, the municipality of Kopstal opened its doors at two sites (in Kopstal and Bridel). An intercultural advisor was at hand to gather the views of those registered and to explain the voting process over a coffee in a convivial atmosphere.

At the beginning of February 2023, less than 15% of non-Luxembourgish residents were registered to vote. In May 2023, 28.2% of non-Luxembourgish residents were on the electoral roll, which represents a significant increase of 13,2%.

A qualitative assessment of the measures adopted in the field of political participation has yet to be carried out.
