Bettembourg

The municipality signed the Pakt vum Zesummeliewen on 28 March 2023. 
The steering committee was set up at the start of the process.

While the municipality of Bettembourg already had a number of good practices in terms of intercultural coexistence before signing the Pakt vum Zesummeliewen (Weltbuttek), a review of the situation revealed additional areas of interest.

At its meeting on 20 September 2022, and taking into account the results of the awareness letter, the steering committee decided to focus on intercultural encounters. The members of the steering committee felt that it was necessary and important to have more meeting places in the municipality of Bettembourg. In addition, in view of the local elections in June 2023, the steering committee also wanted to encourage non-Luxembourg residents to register to vote.

At two citizens' workshops on 12 and 19 November 2022, around 40 residents of the municipality of Bettembourg gave their views on the theme of "Encouraging (inter)cultural diversity and promoting social participation in the municipality". Residents were invited to take part in the workshops by means of personalised letters and email addresses that they had previously provided when filling in the PvZ awareness letter.

The priorities identified by citizens were:

• Socialising and meeting new people
• Involving children and young people
• Communication and information

A number of specific actions have been identified and classified as short-term, medium-term and long-term. 

It has been decided to set up a third-location centre. Before embarking on this project, the municipality has decided to carry out a test phase starting in the summer of 2023 to identify meeting places through:

• A Foodtruck in the Parc Jacquinot (29.05.2023 and 04.06.2023) and 
• A kiosk in a local car park.

The long-term aim is to create a permanent meeting place in the municipality of Bettembourg.

For the evaluation of this cycle the municipality has undertaken the following actions and measures according to the set objectives and the indicators commonly defined for the Gemengepakt: analysis of the participant list, evaluation discussion in the steering comitee.

During this cycle of implementation of the Gemengepakt the municipality of Bettembourg encountered the mainly the difficulty to make sure to inform all the citizens sufficiently about all the offer of the town.

The conclusions of the evaluation will be considered while planing actions in the next cycles in order to improve the work towards a better interculturel living together.

The municipality of Bettembourg signed the « Gemengepakt fir interkulturellt Zesummeliewen »  on the 26/03/2024. 

A steering committee of 22 members coming from the council of eldermen, the town council, the commission for intercultural living together, different town services and two associations has been set up to oversee the various stages of the « Gemengepakt fir interkulturellt Zesummeliewen »  project.

On Wednesday 25.09.2024 from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm and on Saturday 28.09.2024 from 10 am to 12.30 pm, two editions of the citizens' workshop were held on the theme of communication and citizen participation in the municipality of Bettembourg, with a total of 36 citizens taking part.

For each session, participants were divided into two groups on the following themes:

Theme 1: Communication and social relations between residents

Theme 2: Communication between the municipality and residents and between residents and the municipality with a view to optimising citizen participation.
